About Co-operation for Rural Excellence (CORE)
Who we are
Founded in the dynamic 1980s by a group of energetic and passionate individuals rooted in the National Service Scheme (NSS), Co-operation for Rural Excellence (CORE) is a beacon of positive change in the state of Odisha. What started as a collective desire to serve the poorest of the poor has evolved into a robust not-for-profit development organization dedicated to sustainable development.

Our approach
Our Evolution
CORE's journey has been marked by resilience, adaptability, and a continuous quest for positive transformation. From humble beginnings, we have grown into an organization that thrives on challenges, learns from experiences, and is committed to making a lasting impact on the communities we serve.
Our Mission
At the heart of our mission is the unwavering commitment to empower and uplift. We believe in the potential of every individual, regardless of circumstance, to contribute meaningfully to society. Through a pro-active approach to sustainable development, we seek to address the root causes of challenges and create lasting change.
Our Focus Areas
Operating in remote Adivasi areas and the coastal belt of Odisha, CORE engages in a wide spectrum of projects. From poverty alleviation, healthcare, and education to micro-finance activities, rural housing, and habitat development, our initiatives are diverse and tailored to meet the unique needs of the communities we serve.
Collaborative Networks
In the pursuit of greater impact, CORE has embraced a collaborative model. In the 90s, we initiated a network approach, forming a Consortium of grassroots development organizations in Odisha. This collaborative spirit extends to partnerships with government bodies, non-profit organizations, and local communities, fostering a shared commitment to positive change.

Theme of Rights and Empowerment
CORE’s overarching theme is “Rights and Empowerment.” We actively advocate for the rights of marginalized communities and work towards their empowerment. Through coalitions and partnerships, we strive to bring about meaningful and sustainable improvements in the lives of those we serve.
